Hello, I’m Jason Koons - a Paper Cutter, Illustrator and Art Educator based in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.

As a trained commercial artist with roots in printmaking, my papercut work is a process driven mix of personal inspiration points and client directed subject matter.

All of my imagery is cut by hand from single sheets of paper using a single blade - a process that satisfies my artistic need to practice meditative patience while simultaneously providing a thrilling hands-on sensory experience. When I approach a new artwork, I am primarily trying to create the most challenging and satisfying physical cutting experience; sometimes my cuts are driven by line work and drawing, but many times my cuts are intuitive and unplanned.

As a result of this process, I am drawn to explore visually dense, textured, tangled, and complex forms in nature and geometry. Current themes include rope and knots, plant life and flowing forms.
